“Stereotactic radiation treatment is an effective and accurate treatment for cancer; Recently we have treated 2 patients of brain metastasis ( when cancer spreads to brain) with stereotactic radiation treatment. In this radiation treatment 5 to 10 times of daily dose is delivered in 1 to 5 fractions with extreme accuracy , this treatment significantly improves effectiveness of treatment with less time and more patient comfort. Radiation team ensures extreme precision and accuracy with frameless immobilization, precise patient set up and tumor targeting accomplished by IGRT. To the best of our knowledge this is first stereotactic treatment in Chhattisgarh delivered for metastatic brain lesion.”

Stereotactic radiation treatments (SRS / SRT or FSRT) both are similar treatments but SRS delivers large amount of radiation in single fraction and SRT or FSRT has fractionated schedule and high dose of radiation treatment which is given in 2-5 fractions intracranial. These treatments are very effective in small brain tumor, 1-3 small brain metastatic lesions and some non malignant conditions like AV malformations, pituitary adenomas, meningioma, and acoustic schwannoma.
SBRT (stereotactic body Radiotherapy) when high dose of radiation treatment in 1-5 fractions is given outside to brain, it is useful in spinal tumors, single bony metastasis, early stage inoperable lung tumors, livers tumors, Prostate tumor. (For single vertebral, we can treat but for lungs and liver we require respiratory gating)
